The Kira investigation team is discussing the disappearance of Naomi Misora when Watari interrupts their meeting. Sakura TV is broadcasting an audio tape which is allegedly from Kira.

To prevent Kira from gaining public support, L demands that the broadcast be stopped. The investigation team realizes that Kira no longer needs to know the person's name to kill and panics.
