Near is the youngest of L's two successors. Raised in Wammy's house, Watari's orphanage for gifted children in Winchester, England, Near begins his investigation regarding Kira after an unfortunate turn of events. As he continues to gather evidence, he takes it to the President of the United States to showcase that he is who he states he is and becomes the head of an organization regarding this man hunt.
