Ryuk is the most prominently featured Shinigami throughout the series. Bored with the lack of entertainment within the Shinigami realm, Ryuk decides to drop a Death Note within the human world and see what comes of it. As the story progresses, this Death Note that Ryuk dropped is the same one that is picked up by Light Yagami as he begins his own ventures.
